Bank construction temporarily halted

Workers respond to emergency at local homeless shelter

JUNEAU, AK -- Construction is temporarily halted on the new First National Bank Alaska branch going up at the corner of 10th and Glacier in downtown Juneau. Regional Vice President Luke Fanning lauded North Pacific Erectors Project Manager Chad Strongs immediate decision to divert construction crews from the bank project to the Juneau homeless shelter, Glory Holes, emergency need. The needs of our local shelter took precedent in this emergency, Fanning said.

When the towns emergency homeless shelter flooded over the weekend, North Pacific Erectors carpenters moved immediately to help the local non-profit in time of need. I grabbed our crew from the bank project to help the Glory Hole, their staff and those who were displaced in our community to get the flood damage under control and repairs underway, Strong said.

Strong told bank officials that diverting his crew was for a good cause. We want to help get one of our shelters back up and running as quickly as possible, especially given the time of year. He said his crews goal is to help make Glory Hole safe so patrons and staff can be back in their facility.

Strong and his crew saw the opportunity to help immediately. As a local business, we at First National applaud his quick response and value the strengths local experts like North Pacific Erectors bring to aid their neighbors, said Fanning.
