KODIAK, Alaska – Celebrating six decades in Kodiak, First National Bank Alaska donated $5,000 to the Alutiiq Museum and $5,000 to the Kodiak Historical Museum.
The donation to the Alutiiq Museum helps fund a major renovation, adding 3,400 sq. ft., with an enlarged exhibit gallery, a classroom, a gathering space, and an expanded museum store. First National Board Director Perry Eaton, whose roots run deep in Kodiak, was on hand for the presentation. His father, Hank Eaton, was one of the Alutiiq Museum’s founders.
The bank’s long support of youth and education spurred the $5,000 donation to Kodiak Historical Museum’s (KHM) education outreach programs for low-to-moderate-income families in the Kodiak area. KHM board member Mary Tougas, former longtime resident of Kodiak and wife of First National Board Director Tom Tougas, was pleased to participate in that donation presentation.
“As we celebrate our Kodiak Branch’s 60th year, we also celebrate local community partners who are working hard to help shape a brighter future for Alaskans,” said Betsy Lawer, First National Board Chair and CEO/President. “These two important institutions bring the rich history of the Kodiak region to life and remind us how fortunate we are to live and work in the Great Land.”
