First National blood drive collects 100 units of blood to celebrate 100 years in business

ALASKA – As part of its centennial celebrations, First National Bank Alaska invited employees to donate blood to the Blood Bank of Alaska. The Centennial Blood Drive exceeded its goal to collect 100 units in honor of the bank’s 100 years of service.

“There is no substitute for blood,” said Blood Bank of Alaska Director of Collections and Recruitment Wes Dahlgren. “Surgeries and treatments might not occur if not enough blood is available. Donations and drives organized through partners like First National Bank Alaska ensure Alaskans have blood available when they need it most.”

“We invest in the health of our employees, and we invest in the health and success of our fellow Alaskans,” said Senior Human Resources Manager Yana Valinske. “First National is proud to help Alaskans in need.”

First National also invited employees’ family and friends to participate in the centennial blood drive. As of Nov. 29, 101 units of blood have been collected. The drive will continue through 2022.

Alaska’s community bank since 1922, First National proudly meets the financial needs of Alaskans with ATMs and 28 locations in 19 communities throughout the state, and by providing banking services to meet their needs across the nation and around the world.
